Hey guys, what's the deal with the original information in this thread from last year... was the 'being added as original equipment' only going to be for Canadian versions? Just bought a US 19 Grand Touring and it doesn't have AA/CarPlay.. knew that going into it so it's not a surprise or anything, but it is surprising that a non-US version would get more features.

Are the current Canadian CX-3's getting AA/CP factory installed now?

Yes, I believe it’s now standard on all models of cx-3 in Canada produced after Sept 1 2018.

I wouldn’t worry about we Canadians having more standard features offered. We also have a maple syrup dispenser, all-dressed chip holder and a complimentary seat cover for our pet polar bears (with optional swap for a pet lobster booster seat, in the Atlantic provinces).

not regional - for the 2019 models those produced as of Sept 01, 2018 will have AA/CP, those produced before did not.
Likely was on a dealership lot prior to November. ( serial number inside driver's door on center post, in the upper left corner indicates manufacture month and year)

as per message #1 in this thread

This promotion will only be available for models built prior to the production change as of September 1. Starting in November, 2018 MAZDA6 and 2019 CX-3 models will begin to arrive at dealerships with this technology included as standard equipment.

You have to do the software update, as well.

My user manual mentions AA/CP, so that's interesting. I don't know the software version I'm on, so I'll check that when I get the car back. I just dropped it off to have XPEL paint protection film applied. It will be cool if I actually have it since I wasn't expecting it. MazdaUSA doesn't even list it as an option when you build a car.

So while procrastinating on some other stuff and decided to look into this a bit. Turns out the sept. 2018 date thing might have been for the cx-9 since multiple sites are seem to say so. One guy on reddit said he 'read' sept 2019+ which is pure speculation at this point.

Just to clarify, the above post is the current state of USA models. CA and international models are another story but one would think they would have pushed it out here by now but oh well just more letdowns by mazdausa. The initial link shared in the first post of this thread by cmc-skywalker, was referring to the CA model cx-3.

I just ordered the AA/AC modules and cables from Amazon for $150; It'll be my first mod. My 2019 CX-3 is already on 7.x.21, the most recent software version. Looks like everything disassembles easily enough and I will use the "drill it out" method for removing the USB hub. Seems pretty simple... coming from a Jeep I have no qualms about ripping apart my brand new car :)

I paid the dealership to install the upgrade. $363.42 total. Didn't feel like doing it myself, sometimes it's just easier to pay and make sure it's right.

$150 for the kit from Amazon and done in an hour. The only issue I had was yanking the old USB hub out... tried the drilling method but ended up using a screwdriver and BFH after to pop the tabs. After that install took about an hour. Everything popped off from the inside if I fished around in the dash so I didn't even need to use a trim tool. Other than the USB thing fighting me this is the easiest mod I've ever done on a vehicle.

Just

Thanks to the info in this thread and info linked from it, I was able to install the $AU300 retrofit kit on my wife's 2016. Thanks everybody.
I did it without removing the CD player.
Everything snapped back into place with no rattles or squeaks.
Beats paying $300. for 3 years of biannual map updates from Mazda when Google Maps updates in real time.
wondered if at all possible, where did you get this upgrade from, as seriously thinking of doing this to my car as well.

Hello
If I understand correctly this kit enabled you to go from updated 70x version to a retro 56x version in order to do the MazdaTweaks install ?

Asking for a French friend with a updated 70x mazda connect version and can't use MazdaTweaks...
To use tweaks on a car updated with the latest software you will need to use the serial port method to execute some scripts that will re-enable the use of tweaks.

I did it on my CX3 a while back and it is fairly easy. Remove screen unit and temporarily add a couple of wires so you can access it by serial/debug port using a terminal program on your laptop.

Lots of good threads with pictures posted on various sites.

The kits mentioned is I believe the CarPlay update hardware.

No. This was an AA/AC install only. I already have updated 70x firmware and did not make any software modifications.

I have a appt to get this installed on Monday. It is costing more than I’d like to pay but I don’t want to attempt this myself and I’d like to ensure it is done correctly not to mention they are telling I’d void my warranty if I did it myself.
The cost tho. Ugh ? oh my vehicle is a 2019 cx-3 touring(at least I think that is what it is. ) don’t mind me. My minds been a little foggy lately.

Not sure how they'd void the warranty or on what. Maybe on the infotainment module but they'd have to prove that your modifications caused the failure.
