Be Advised I will No Longer offer Any Support to Mazda Owners who Do Not obtain these Genuine Mazda Firmware Files from Me.
If you Download from YouTube or Other Links then Do Not ask for any help from me if or when it goes bad. Most of the other 'suppliers' do not offer any Support or include Full Instructions and or are issuing the wrong files for your Country or car.
I am simply not prepared to waste my time when some of you are impatient and or cannot wait for my reply(s).

Most PC Browsers (Google Chrome or MS Edge) offer Translation from a drop down, top far right.

WARNING: DO NOT USE ANY SMART PHONE TO DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE AND INSTALL OF FIRMWARE ONTO small USB FLASH DRIVE. ONLY USE A WINDOWS 11 PC - LAPTOP.

L00K: AS OF SEPT 2025 IN 95% OF UPDATES MOST OWNERS ONLY NEED THE ONE EASY UPDATE,

THE OLD OUTDATED 70.00.100 IN 95% OF CASES IS NOT NEEDED* AND YOU ARE AT RISK BRICKING
YOUR CMU (Mazda Connect) BY INSTALLING THIS 70.00.100 TWO FILE UPDATE.

STOP Installing ANY 70.00.100 Files Unless Instructed by me to do so.!
PLZ STOP READING OUT OF DATE ADVISE ON WHAT TO DO.
PLS
STOP INSTALLING OLD FILES WHICH ARE NOT EVEN NEEDED.
* Only used as a transition update on cars made before 2015 and Never Updated Before.

ALERT: Please be aware that MAZDA ONLY Supports the WIRED Connected AUX Hub and Two Large USB Cables for Carplay and or AndroidAuto Conversions.
GENUINE Mazda CP/AA Wireless is ONLY obtained by using an updated for ''Wireless CMU'' (the inside Dash Hardware) and the updated new AUX Hub.
MAZDA DOES NOT SELL or SUPPORT CP/AA WIRELESS VIA a ''Carplay Dongle'' only via more expensive "Wireless CMU".
These ''Carplay Dongles'' are not from Mazda nor can be considered a Genuine Mazda Part.
They are sold via Amazon, eBay etc, I would be careful about their longevity (or life span).
Personally I Only recommend the ORIGINAL CP/AA Update which requires the 2 Wired USB Cables and Updated AUX Hub or Box installation AFTER your 74.00.324A Firmware is working. The Latest and final 74.00.324A Mazda Firmware
does work fine with these wireless Carplay Dongles, HOWEVER I recommend you ONLY use the Instruction I supply with all my Genuine Mazda Firmware as these other paperwork suppled is either old and outdated Firmware from a Google Link and instructions which is very vague.

PLEASE NOTE: 74.00.324A is NOW THE FINAL FIRMWARE as all Mazda Cars using this .up Firmware is OUT OF PRODUCTION and No Longer Installed in any New Mazda's made from 2024.
IF YOU Are Currently Using ANY Outdated 70.00.xxx's Firmware Version(s) then I strongly advise you install the Best and Last Updated Version of 74.00.324A as there are up to 50 different Bugs and Issues Fixed or Resolved between old Version(s) 70. and Latest 74.

WARNING: Many of you guys are downloading Mazda Firmware from You-Tube or other sources...
UNLESS You know WHAT you are doing DO NOT...!!
WHY: Well you are either downloading Firmware for WRONG Country or Region or you are NOT Downloading the Complete Set of Files.
Must have separate Reinstall.up and Fail-safe.up Files and YOU MUST install each in the correct order (the Smallest File is First).
Only the late 70's Firmware is a ONE FILE Only Install.
RESULTS: Well many are ONLY Downloading or Installing the One file and Not the Other leaving you with a Mismatched CMU Versions Set-up which can be very difficult to rectify.

NOTE: THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE CHARGING YOU FOR THESE UPDATES IN RUSSIA or UKRAINE, I NEVER CHARGE YOU, YOU DO NOT PAY FOR NEW FILES, EVER!

CARPLAYTM + ANDROID AUTO CONVERSION...Warning...!

Some of you are installing your New Aux Hub and 2 Cables BEFORE you have Updated to 74.00.324A FIRMWARE...!
Well it will Never work as YOU MUST have a working 70 to 74 Firmware installed and running in your car First, AFTER that You then install your 3 new parts. CP/AA will never work in any other way.

WARNING: PLEASE NOTE, IF YOU CAN NOT SUPPLY ME A PICTURE
OF CARS EXISTING FIRMWARE VERSION IN Your PRIVATE MESSAGE TO ME TO VERIFY I CAN NOT ISSUE YOU THE MAZDA CONNECT UPDATE FILE(S).

See CP/AA Conversion Kit Below in Pic.

ALSO NOTE: YOU CAN NOT CHANGE or SWAP INFOTAINMENT SYSTEMS.

ALL EXPORT CX-3s USE the 6th GENERATION MAZDA CONNECT.
7th Gen MAZDA HOME SCREEN has the White Text on Black Screen.

6th Gen MAZDA HOME SCREEN has the Red Select Icons on Black Screen.

CX-3 Owners (worldwide), YES you can update your Firmware yourself IF you wish to a later updated versions, these later versions have many bug fixes and at times new features for particular model Mazda's.

All Skyactiv Mazda's has the same 'usage' in all the Mazda model line up, like CX-5, CX-9, CX-3, Mazda 2, 3 and 6 and MX-5.

ALL you need to do is select and install the correct 'Type' for your Country or Region..DO NOT Mix up or Install Firmware meant for different Countries/Regions.

WARNING âš  : DO NOT USE ANY USB FLASH DRIVE LARGER THAN 16GB IN SIZE.

Image

There are basically 4 different Firmware Types.
NA is for North America ONLY.
EU is for Europe and UK.
ADR (4A) is for Australia, NZ, Thailand, Philippines, most of South America and most of Africa and Oceania.
JP is for Japan ONLY.

How Do I know what 'Version Of Firmware' I already have installed in my car with Mazda-MZD Connect now?

Do the following on your cars Dashboard Connect LCD Screen to reveal.......

Connect Touch Screen ON; touch "Settings" icon (far right); Then far right Folder Tab '>>' touch it a few times to 'System' Folder; finger scroll to bottom of page touch "About"; touch "Version Information";

See the three Version of Firmware Type + Numbers listed on
your cars Dashboard Connect LCD Screen (EU here is an example).......

OS Version is 56.00.513 EU N
Music Database Version is 00.05.000
Fail Safe Version is 56.00.513

Note: The N after the firmware 'type' means the 'SatNav' protocol that being the NNG brand.
(JP firmware has 'SatNav' protocol M by Matsukone only used for/in Japan).

Note: Earlier Versions of Firmware may not show any 'type' or letters after the numbers, until a later update has been installed, be careful if there are no alpha letters after the firmware numbers that you do install the correct type for your Country, do not guess it, ask here if you are not certain.

Anyway there is a Thread I created over at our sister forum, the Mazda 3 Revolution .com forum with all the Links and Advise you will ever need, yes it is a long thread, but it really is very simple.
As I can not post external links here, go to this Forum and look for this specific Thread Title and Download Links....

"Mazda-MZD Connect FIRMWARE Downloads-UPDATED"

There is also a similar named thread which is much older and much larger, but it is not up to date and contains far less user info and user instructions.

IF you have already installed any 'Tweaks" or SSH re-formatting in your great Mazda CX-3 I strongly suggest you remove these tweaks BEFORE you run the standard OE Mazda Firmware update.
Some owners (only a few) have bricked their CMU because they did not follow this advise.
You do not void your warranty by updating your Connect Firmware yourself.
NOTE: In most cases when you update Firmware your Music Database (Gracenote) is also updated to latest available.

ALSO NOTE: Do not rely on your Mazda Dealer to update your Firmware for Connect as most never will unless you complain of a specific issue or fault.

This thread is NOT about any hacking advise, sorry, I can not help you there.
There are other threads/members who can for that. :)

For Links for the latest Firmware Please ONLY Contact me via private Message here. New Members must post in Forum to Qualify.
*Click this Here to Private Message Me *

CAN NOT MESSAGE ME...?
IF YOU ARE A NEW MEMBER you must post text content in at least 2 separate posts in any thread within THIS forum, THEN wait about 24 hours and then you can direct message any member, this is usual policy in most forums.

NOTE: MY REPLY to YOU can take up to 14 Hours as I am in Australia, be patient. Do Not download Firmware Files from any other websites as they offer zero support and usually only one of the three Regions.

THE .PDF INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR New AUX Hub HARDWARE INSTALLATION IS IN THIS LINK HERE... AUX HUB AND CABLE HARDWARE INSTALL .PDFs

#2 · (Edited)
Edit: I removed outdated information.

Those wanting Mazda Factory Carplay or AndroidAuto you must have a minimum of Firmware 70.00.100 or above.

This 70s or 74 Firmware MUST BE INSTALLED before you install the new Aux Hub and Cables, DO NOT INSTALL Parts before this or CP/AA will never work.

This above is the correct Genuine design Mazda CP/AA
Conversion Kit for WIRED USE with your WIRED Phone.
Stay clear of these Wireless Units (for Carplay ONLY), they don't last very long.

Tips, Firmware Install instructions in.Pdf are also included with your particular download link.
Even a short how to install firmware video can be supplied if you wish.

CHANGELOG for NA N Firmware, EU N and 4A N will be similar fixes.

So if you have checked your own CX-3's touch screen and done this as shown above...
How Do I know what 'Version Of Firmware' I already have installed in my car with Mazda-MZD Connect now?

You should now see a screen showing the installed Firmware and Music Database presently installed.

---------------------------------000ooo000-----------------------------------

If you are in 4A or Australia/NZ/Thailand etc it may show...see example touchscreen pics below for ADR (4A) and JP Japan.

OS Version is 56.00.100 4A N
Music Database Version is 00.05.000
Fail Safe Version is 56.00.100

So in this example for ADR (4A) the numbered string is 56.00.100, therefore you can update to newer ADR_56.00.513C which is a higher and latest Firmware File (Firmware Download links available on Mazda3 Rev Forum Thread).
You can also update your Music Database to 00.07.000
NEVER install a Lower Outdated Version of Firmware.

---------------------------------000ooo000-----------------------------------

If you are in NA or North America, USA, Canada, Mexico it may show...

OS Version is 55.00.760 NA N
Music Database Version is 00.05.000
Fail Safe Version is 55.00.760

So in this example for NA the numbered string is 55.00.760, therefore you can update to the newer NA_59.00.441A which is a higher and latest Firmware File (Firmware Download links available on Mazda3 Rev Forum Thread).
You can also update your Music Database from 00.05.000 to 00.07.000.
NEVER install a Lower Outdated Version of Firmware.

---------------------------------000ooo000-----------------------------------

Examples ONLY of a Touchscreen Firmware Database Version inquiry...

Any versiĂłn after 55.00.760 but after then 59.00 for NA?

A Mazda tech will normally connect a secondary power supply to the vehicle as it's important to maintain a stable voltage and also not allow the ignition to timeout during the update process.
Edit: A secondary power supply does not prevent Mazda MZD Connect time out or off.
TO PREVENT TIMEOUT You MUST PRESS Pedals every 20 minutes to avoid CMU crash.

A Mazda tech will normally connect a secondary power supply to the vehicle as it's important to maintain a stable voltage and also not allow the ignition to timeout during the update process.
The time out process is fully explained in the instructions: Press the Clutch and or Brake Pedal every 15-20 minutes as the Time Out occurs @ 25 minutes, it is Critical that the ACC mode does not turn off accessories, and has nothing to do with using an external power supply.

Connecting and external power supply is not always necessary for CMU flashing but does not hurt if owner has a battery charger as the charger will compensate for a low charge car battery, hundreds(+) of updates have been done by owners without tethering any external power supply to stabilise voltage, but it can be critical if battery is old to use an external 12V charger because if CMU detects any instability with battery it will shut itself down and will brick CMU.

Mazda mandates an external supply when using IDS as load is put on the Starter and Battery with EREO scenarios during the actual IDS module update process.
Mazda Connect (CMU) flashing is different as engine is always off as are all other loads, like fans, lights, AC, etc.

As I said, all the instructions including those from Mazda are available at 3 rev forum. :)

I still recommend MOST people take it to the dealer. if anything happens, and I mean anything, you're screwed if you attempt this yourself. Let the dealer handle it and assume all responsibility. The only people that should do this themselves are those that are comfortable hacking their system and have done so before.

Sorry, but (my thread) is not "hacking" their (your) system, the OEM Connect files are the exact same files any Mazda Dealer uses.....I do not support any Hacking or SSH if you read the thread at Mazda 3 rev forum it is all OEM and genuine.
http://mazda3revolution.com/forums/...ctiv-audio-electronics/180578-mazda-mzd-connect-firmware-downloads-updated.html

Firmware updates for your Gracenote Music Data-Base 00.07.000 (latest) are actually performed by the Owner, that is you, not the Mazda Dealer, and they are in the exact same format (.UP file) and similar install process as the Connect Firmware updates.
http://infotainment.mazdahandsfree.com/howto-updategracenote?language=en-US

And no it will not void your warranty either if you do it yourself and correctly, that is just a ludicrous comment. There are many hundreds of Mazda/MZD Connect owners who have done the same genuine Connect firmware updates and have not had any problem with their Dealers, Mazda does not run a cross reference data base on any firmware updates.

A bit like saying having a local IO servicing your car will void your new car warranty, it will not.
I was a warranty claim officer for Mazda for years in all facets of fixed operations, please stop the misinformation.

Having said that IF you hacked/SSH/ and did damage Mazda may not support the repair, again what I have listed is exactly what Mazda Dealers use. :)

I'm not saying you're encouraging hacking, I'm saying only people comfortable with hacking their system should do these things. I've seen far too many threads where people screwed up their infotainment system and now have to get an expensive repair because they blindly followed someone saying "it is so easy to do so and so".

Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing you, I'm just giving people a heads up.

I really fail to understand why you are posting misinformation.
You do not have to be experienced in "hacking" to update software or firmware.
Yes it is not quite hitting only one "update' button on your smart phone, or PC, but it is simply listed instructions done by many, many people around the world, even a video to show you how to.
But I understand, I guess some have it an others don't.

EDIT: Just to make this clear, None of what I have said in any forums comes close to 'hacking', it is everything your Mazda Dealer does, and it is not hacking, simple.

And yes, I have not suggested that owners 'blindly follow' what 'someone says', precisely why I don't recommend hacking, again, what I post is Exactly what Mazda says in TSB and what your Mazda Dealer does when updating your Mazda Connect or MZD connect.

The failures I have seen are from those who have previously hacked and do not remove the hacks before running a genuine firmware updates, if you don't hack you wont run into this issue.

Or they have had hardware issues and trying to resolve them with software updates which never works. IF this is the case then Mazda has renewed part without question and at no owner cost as it is a know defect.

So far there has been no reported issues with actual CMU or TAU Hardware in CX-3, there will always be Firmware updates, and once out of new car warranty owners will then resort to doing it themselves or paying over $100 which will be the update cost a Service Dealer will charge as it is the listed service schedule.

So how do you update your Gracenote Music Database greasman85, just interested.

Hi

I've been advised that you are able to help,

I have a 2019 CX3 with OS Ver 59.00.5455 EU N
but I want to be able to use the Android Auto/Car Play on the update

can you point me in the right direction of where I can get the software
and do I need to buy a USB adaptor to update my current USB ports on the dash of my car.. as I've seen youtube videos
where they have had to remove and update to a newer USB socket to get the Android Auto/Apple car play to work...
but I've not been able to locate if this is needed for the 2019 version

any help would be great

Again, I'm not accusing you of encouraging hacking, I'm not sure why you keep going on about that. And, I'm not talking about Gracenote updates, which Mazda provides and tells you how to do. I'm talking about the far more difficult and time consuming firmware updates that could potentially brick your system if you don't know exactly what you're doing. This is why Mazda doesn't provide these updates for consumers to do and says to go to a dealer.

I'm not posting any misinformation, if anything you need to be careful when posting things like this and have a disclaimer to warm people of the potential problems they could face. This is what I did, I just said most people shouldn't do this.

For those of you who might be in a similar boat to me of wanting to install some of the Mazda tweaks, keep in mind that the latest versions of the firmware lock out the ability to install tweaks. You have to update to v55 of the firmware, run some scripts, and then update to v59. If you go straight to v59, you'll be installing changes that Mazda made to prevent updates over USB. Since I missed that line in the instructions, I'm now either stuck not doing any changes or having to pull the CMU enough to connect wires to hack the system.

The next release will be 74.00.230, it is available for NA N or NORTH AMERICA ONLY right now.

The rest of the world EU N and 4A N (ADR), will be a few more months yet....nobody has them in the wild, even Mazda Dealers do not have them yet....about November December 2021.

This 74 version has WCP Wireless Carplay software, but you MUST also buy a 2021 CMU hardware designed for WCP as WCP will not work without the correct CMU Hardware...cost new is over $1000 USD.

Hey ASH, I am looking for the Australian firmware v56-58 preferably (there was a copy of ADR 56.00.513C at some point). Any chance you or someone else here might have a copy?

Also I have a personal server setup that can host all the files if you have copies of them all. Would also be happy to set up torrents for them, and also seed them on my server so the links never go down again.

Does anyone have firmware newer than 70.0.0.100 EU? I installed this successfully on my Mazda and ordered the
Retrofit hub but apparently I'll be needing 70.0.0.200 or newer for CarPlay to work ..
See instruction in Server..
Yes your Carplay will still activate once you install parts with 70.00.100.
YES there is a later or newer version for EU N, that is 70.00.367A

Firstly, thanks to all the hard work of the early posters going back to 2016.

So, I have the two files for cmu150_NA_70.00.100A, failsafe.up and reinstall.up. I'm currently running 59.00.504 NA N. If I've read everything correctly, I should be able to do a direct update with these files without having to move to an intermediate version. Does that sound right? Eventually I would like to update my USB hub so that I can install android auto.

I could really use some help RE: the firmware update.

Before I could even upload the files, my entire audio/nav system had a catastrophic meltdown.

I have tried all variations of hard resets, but it remains completely dead, with the exception of FM static on occasion.

Obviously, I'm staring down the barrel of an expensive and tedious journey. I am hoping someone, somewhere has some CPR I can perform. I'd also, be interested in a knock-off Nav/Stereo Head unit, if anyone has had any success with one.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
