On Sat. (day after I picked up the car) I was snooping around the engine area and I noticed this item sitting on top of the splash shield near the bottom of the rad area.

I reached down and picked it up and noticed it to be some sort of grommet, but couldn't see where it would go.

Part is on the left beside a Canadian 25 cent coin with a tape measure below for sizing purposes.

I'm now wondering if this item was some extra part from the factory that didn't get dislodged from the area where I found it (with the driving I did on the car the day I picked it up) or the possibility that when the dealer installed my block heater they didn't need to or forgot to put it back where it belongs.

If anyone knows what the part is and where it goes on the car that would be great. I might drop by the service dept. to ask them but chances are they'll have no clue what it is and I really don't want to see that strange weird look on the face of the advisor that I would talk to about this.

I haven't checked my car yet but it looks like a rubber grommet used on holes that fasten the engine cover. One of my previous cars used two thick grommets that look just like that part, with a metal washer on its side too.

Good guess but it isn’t from the engine cover. Its definitely something from that block heater job.
