Hi new to the CX-3 just a minor question on steering to work out typical or not.

We have owned our FWD CX-3 for a couple of weeks and so far like most things about from the way it looks to the way it drives, one minor question relates to turning into some streets or small roundabouts with the steering wheel at approx 45 degrees left or right there is a brief perception of transitional vagueness or zero feel at the mid turn that isn't at all noticeable on our 2017 CX-5.

The momentary vagueness both left or right at mid turn isn't there in normal cornering spirited or otherwise and may be a characteristic of the CX-3 hence my posting the question here....I did try to search but was unable to find a previous posting on this question. :confused:

Both the CX-3 and CX-5 have MacStrut front suspensions.

It sounds like either an alignment problem (front toe, caster, or both) or tire rollover. What size wheels/tires do you have on each car?

Are you putting in more steering input in mid-corner? If so, that can suddenly load up the front tires and give you more sidewall flex which might feel weird (especially if you're rolling on 16's in the '3 and you're used to 18's or larger on the '5).

The vagueness doesnt feel tyre related and only noticeable at the mid point turning into a street or small round about with the steering wheel at approximately 45deg, feels almost like but not quite something has a fractional give both left and right and not while cornering on a winding road which the CX3 handles quite nicely.

To be clear it doesn't feel dangerous or bad but as it's been there since pick up I'm wondering if it's normal, if so then ok, it's just a feature, if not then will query the dealer.

Sounds like the G-vectoring control plus activating that could be causing the "vague" feeling as the system is cutting off power and applying a bit of brake in the inner wheel while going into that turn (assuming your car has that feature if it's the 2018-2019 MY).

Have trying to better quantify it but don't believe it is related to G-vectoring, if operating this would be noticeable through the tight continual twisties like through our nearby National park which the CX-3 is remarkably good at...

The vagueness is actually more like a repeatable brief minor oscillation at the transition point felt through the steering wheel and best noticed when turning "without" any throttle or any braking into a 90 degree side street. I've tried replicating it with our '17 CX-5 an a friends newish Mazda 2 turning into the same streets but neither of those does it, mind my wife says she doesn't notice it so I'm unsure if its a latent problem, a normal feature of the CX-3 or I'm being over sensitive ? :confused:

Interesting after thinking the mid turn sensation of vagueness since new was normal, it has mysteriously disappeared after it was in with Mazda...No idea why, had asked the Service Manager if there were any notes on adjustments, repair or updates.....She advised none were noted, doesn't matter as after 9 months just happy its gone.
