What does this do?
The Mazda site says it covers necessary towing in event of failure of warrantied parts.
Several dealer websites say it covers flat tires, fuel delivery, lockouts, etc.
Very different; which is it? Presumably Mazda, but who knows...

Was there any material covering the details included with your new car paperwork? I have it but would need to go on a hunt to locate it.

in Canada, it's covers all that and more.
It's on their website

https://www.mazda.ca/en/owners/roadside-assistance/

It seems to specify warranty failures on the US site.
about halfway down the page.
https://www.mazdausa.com/owners/warranty

and

We also have unlimited mileage warranty.

Same car, harsh Canadian winters, hot summers.
Logic does not apply

I asked Mazda, but they haven't gotten back to me.

But, I think I have figured out my confusion. Only certified used Mazdas come with the full roadside assistance. New cars just get the towing. I guess I will be getting AAA.

Mazda finally got back to me after a week. They sent me the roadside assistance brochure that says it covers battery jumps, fuel delivery, lockout assistance, flat changes, towing to a dealer in event of warrantied failures, and accidents. It doesn't say what they will do in even of accidents.

It arrived 12 hours after I bit the bullet and joined AAA. $41 shot to hell.

If anyone wants a copy of the brochure, let me know.
