I've had my 2016 CX-3 AWD Touring for a few weeks now, and I'm wondering if I need to reset the ECU. If I drive in manual or with fast acceleration, it drives just fine. However, I am getting an odd surge that comes and then quickly goes in automatic as it shifts from 2nd to 3rd. It shifts and there's moment of greater acceleration that then almost immediately ends. The result is an uncomfortable jerk that perhaps only I notice.

Is this normal? Should I look into resetting the ECU? If I should reset the ECU as the car's new owner to try to eliminate the surge, is the method of disconnecting the battery and pumping the brake the best method?

Is it just before or after the shift?
