I'm going to be doing some mountain driving soon. I put on a new snow wheel / tire setup this morning. I went from 235/40 19 Down to 235/45 18. Slightly smaller wheel with a little more side wall. The difference in overall diameter is ↓ 0.3%. My speedometer will only read 0.49mph Slower. Nice match. It's AWD so this is going to be fun.

Which snow tires did you go with? I have 225/50-17's as my winter tire set-up and use Michelin X-Ice tires. BTW, you're right, it is going to be fun. The AWD system is intuitive and will correct most problems before you even know there was a problem.

One thing I have fun with is if the car starts to under-steer, ease on the gas to provoke over-steer and enjoy the power slide. You might want to find an open space to practice this because it could keep you out of the snowbanks or ditches.

I went with 235/45R18 Nexen Winguard Sport 2 Winter . Super cost effective. Cant wait to get up to Mt Hood and try them out.
