Navigation Alternatives?

The official Mazda dealer here in Jamaica (yes, there's only one) tells me that no navigation SD card is available for my country because Mazda doesn't have the map data. Some reading in this forum and others has led me to believe that Mazda gets its map data from HERE (formerly Navteq?). As far as I can tell, the map company has Jamaica covered.

With no word from Mazda on when, if ever, Android Auto will be released for their platform, I was wondering if anyone has heard of any alternatives for integrated navigation. Are there even any other territories with this problem? No nav data I mean.

Note that I've looked into the Android Auto CMU hack and while I'm not squeamish about trying it, the outstanding bugs, particularly around receiving phone calls, make it too much less than ideal for me.

I now this may sound weird, but spit out a viable address in Jamaica and I will input into my nav (hopefully, other users will do the same, for a cross reference) and I will report what happens. Technically, Jamaica is inclusive of NA - I'll be curious to see what the data shows.

I do not know what system Mazda is using now (I love HERE on my phone) but it is a step back, IMO, from the TomTom they used in the past (which was not so great as far as updates went - my phone still won).

Cheers and enjoy (the eastern NA) paradise!

PS - Didn't James Bond go to Jamaica in "Casino Royal"?

You could try 42 Duke Street, Kingston. Vale Royal, Kingston, Jamaica (Prime Minister's official residence) should also be a good landmark.

Our address system could really use some improvement now that I think about it but Google seems to manage alright.

As for James Bond, I don't know about Casino Royale but Ian Fleming, the author of the original novels, lived here. His property was called Goldeneye of all things. Pretty sure it's a hotel or something now.
