Does anyone know how or to whom I can submit a request for more apps for the Mazda Connect infotainment system? I'm a commuter and love my audio books and while I love the Stitcher and Pandora apps, I would LOVE to have and audiobook app (overdrive is a fave). The reason being is playing it through my bluetooth gives this awful deadspace sound that mean I have to up the volume to hear the book, but it doesn't drown out the deadspace and just amplifies it. I don't have this issue when playing music (googleplay) synced via blue tooth or with the other apps. So I'm thinking a dedicated app would probably get rid of this issue.

Heya BB.

The Infotainement system is made by Visteon for Mazda. For all requests of that type, my local dealership recommends emailing Mazda Canada (or Mazda USA in your case), but you're likely to get ye olde "Thank you, your email is important to us.." reply and nothing more. The Mazda 3 Revolution forum is much more active on CMU discussions and some folks hack the Infotainement system in attempts to add stuff to it (video player is a big topic for example), but for something as specialized as an audiobook app, your chances are probably better to wait for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay when (if) it comes out in a later version of the CMU (latest is 55.753A I believe).

This doesn't help I know, but perhaps there's hope :)

They barely even have accessories available for the CX-3 yet, so i'm guessing you will have to wait a few months. Did you try plugging your phone in via the Auxiliary connector to see if that kills your white noise?

True. I haven't seen any accessories yet in the US. I'm waiting to see what the pricing will be on the armrest and the dealership I bought from owes me a trunk cover. I haven't tried the aux connector yet because the reason I wanted bluetooth was to get rid of all the cords in the car (save the charger). Using the bluetooth to play anything else (including my GooglePlay account and a different podcast app) doesn't give the same feedback as the one audiobook app. I'm going to try another before I reintroduce the dreaded cord to my car.

Thanks for the additional info on the infotainment system. I'm hoping (fingers and toes crossed) that Mazda goes with Android auto in the future and that the infotainment system will be upgraded to that. It would be great to get in on that on the ground floor.

I'm personally looking forward to the ability to make it so the infotainment system doesn't lock you out of features while driving. Not being able to input a new destination is highly annoying. Making people pull over to the side of the highway to input a destination is going to do more harm than good.

Is there no coding to be done with newer Mazdas? I know with VW and BMW you can recode the system to override factory defaults on such things.

It's easily done if you're mildly adventurous. I've done the 4 basic hacks on my cx3 and the recipes work like a charm:

Remove speed limitation on cmu touch screen
Reduce warning page display time
Re-enable wi-fi in the car
Re-order audio source list presented in cmu

Have fun :)
