I am wondering when the new Mazda CX-3 will be coming out? I'm hoping it will come out as a 2014 model-year vehicle and be available in the Fall of 2013. Am I being too optimistic or is this realistic?

If it happened to be a 2015 model-year, when would it likely come out?

Fortunately whenever it comes out in 2015, whether that be later than the competition (Honda HR-V) that comes out in spring 2015, it shouldn't see much of a loss in sales especially with all the autoshows coming up giving the masses a great first look at it

Do you know for sure when exactly it will come out?

I don't recall seeing anything suggesting an exact release date.

If it is actually spring 2015... can you confirm that?

They have already announced EPA mileage numbers for the 2 . Surely the launch date won't be a year off. No numbers yet for the CX3. Everything I read (unofficial) says its coming this summer. I don't know.:confused:
Well, there hasn't been an official US rollout for the Mazda 2 in a show yet. The CX3 should be shown as a final production model in the LA Auto Show in November (but should be on sale before that). I heard that Mazda might not want to rollout two cars in a similar platform at the same time. Maybe they'll call it 2017 Mazda 2 (no 2015 or 2016 Mazda 2) and most dealerships have zero Mazda 2 to sell now which could bode well for the CX3 filling the niche as the smallest Mazda at least for this year. Still, the Mazda 2 could come out this year but the Scion iA is coming out this fall which could mean anything for the Mazda 2. Are they running the production at the same time for Scion iA and Mazda 2 or staggering the lines? Well when they update the website, then we would know.

I want to say the Renegade EPA estimates came out just a few weeks before the car hit dealerships. Yea, just checked.

Renegade EPA ratings released 19 March.
First Renegades were for sale around 2-3 weeks later

That might mean nothing. But it's one example timeline from another manufacturer. That may or may not translate to Mazda.

At the NYC auto show today, while admiring the CX-3, I was approached by a very nice Mazda exec who seemed to know a bit.

I asked about fuel mileage and he said nobody really knows yet, but he will personally be surprised if it comes in below 40.

I asked about release date, and he said they really haven't been told a specific date, but he said he expects it sometime between June-September.

I asked about the small-looking rear door. He told me he's sat back there and it was comfortable - this bit left me a bit skeptical.

Liked the car, but it was roped off on a rotating stand ten feet away. Not really as stunning in person as I expected. Nice, but not stunning.

Was it that much of a difference?

I really think the car looks great for the price. Even in the video reviews I've seen I think it looks great. It really looks like you'd be getting a car that looks more than it actually costs.

I think its not often though that a car looks even just as good in person as it does in the marketing photos.

For me the car was a visual letdown. But man, that is such a subjective thing. You shouldn't pay any attention to my lack of enthusiasm. It's still the best looking of the crop - way, way nicer than the HRV, the Renegade, and the Soul. Although the 2-door Trackster Soul concept was way hotter than all of them.

Now the $150,000 Acura NSX knocked my socks off. Stunning. Artwork on wheels.

One thing I forgot to mention about the show CX-3s (red and white). If you look closely at the front windshield from outside, the area near the rear view mirror looks like a fighter jet or something.

They have a black plastic frame encasing all the different anti-collision sensors. I was scratching my head until I asked.

I was @ the Dealer yesterday, I is possible to pre-order from now. Delivery will be between July and August. If the similar car is already ordered, just for dealer stock, it can even be sooner.

Thanks for mentioning that. Something that also has me wondering how much deposits will be, $500? $1000?

Or maybe no deposit at all depending on dealer.
