I bought my cx3 9/30/16. I love it. I had my headlamps swapped out and now my keyless entry works sporadically. I placed a new battery in it a year ago. And an internet search says I should be good roughly three years. It was working after I pressed it like 3 or 4 times. But now nothing. I am going to place a new battery in it. I hope it doesn't need to be replaced.

For the cheap cost and simplicity in changing the battery, I'd go for that in the first instance. I don't know where you did your internet search, but the Mazda Owner's manual has this to say :-

"Battery life is about one year. Replace the battery with a new one if the KEY indicator light (green) flashes in the instrument cluster. Replacing the battery about once a year is recommended because the KEY warning light/indicator
light may not illuminate or flash depending on the rate of battery depletion."

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. I will be doing this today!

As for where I did my search. Here is the linkhttps://www.autoblog.com/2016/01/14/how-long-does-a-key-fob-battery-last/

A key fob battery will usually last around three to four years before it will need to be replaced. Not having a fully functional key fob can lead to a lot of frustration and stress. In some cases, it will be impossible for a person to get into their car without a working key fob. When the time comes to get a new battery, you will have to take some time to research exactly what you need. By getting an idea of what is needed, you will be able to find the right battery in no time at all.

One of our fobs started to get flaky between 2 and 3 years. I replaced the batteries in both of them and all has been fine now for many months...

My Nissan Frontier gets 1-2 years on a battery, I carry some in the glove box.
