It's not urgent but my teenage son wants to delete Pandora and Stitcher from my 2016 Mazda CX3 entertainment menu and can't find a way to do it! Is it possible and if so can we add Spotify? Thanks.

Officially there's no way to remove it as far as Im aware since its mazdas own proprietary system and they get paid money to basically indirectly "advertise" it as a permanent option.

The unofficial way used to be the mazda tweaks aftermarket software mod where im sure you could edit out the option but mazda cracked down hard and depending what version your mazda system is it could have been patched to prevent modification.

3rd more extreme way is to replace radio with aftermarket android os system where you can playground with any apps you want to install but entire different from mazdas unit and depending on the radio bought. It may or may not have the command knobs for it.

Just a side note, those options on screen in the mazda radio arent really much different than just Bluetooth audio with exception of maybe showing album art. If you want usable spotify through mazdas screen youd have to go android radio route or install the much later released official car play/android auto addon by mazda and run it off your phone still. The original radio system is no different than a over glorified bluetooth audio player without the aa/carplay attachment sadly

Knowing he has a 2016, and probably hasn't done any software upgrades (unless dealership had advised them to), it may be still possible. Regardless, sounds like a huge risk for such a short outcome.

Yea the updates havent done anything except block off mazda aio tweaks mods people have been doing on mazdas infotainment system. The fact they managed to get android auto/car play running on older firmware without the need for additional hardware mazda sold us later kinda showed the real intentions of the updates especially when they prevented rollbacks and explicitly patched holes other used to mod it.

The only update that actually supposedly did anything was their android auto/carplay which added the knob functionality to it iirc. Also mazdas wireless data collection on driver with the newer mazda connect infotainment models is the same datamining we get on our phones now standalone in the car lol.
