Just wanted to give an update on this.
It turned out that the evaporator temperature sensor was damaged and needed a replacement. The repair was very expensive since they had to take the whole dash out to be able to get access to the evaporator.
HVAC system works perfectly after the replacement.

Many thanks for providing an update regarding your AC problem and the solution. It is good to hear of the solution when an owner has originally posted regarding a problem on their CX-3.
