Hey there. I had a near miss couple nights ago so decided to view the footage.
In the dark intersection (over head signal lights) the approaching vehicle that drove straight toward me as I was making the left turn advance - I could not see the licence plate in any sort of detail.

Its a different story in the daylight, though you can only see immediately in front of you, not the next lane coming toward you.
Whats the usual visual acuity for the dark? Or your experience of it with your dash cam?

I’m using a pair of EPrance 0805s and the daytime resolution is exceptional - I can freeze a car coming the other way and see the number as plain as day. The early 0803s were very good in the dark but my 0805s are not as good as they stopped using the ambrella chip. It means that you could see the mechanics of an accident but you might struggle to see the registration number. Some cameras are better than others but none intensify the image as far as I know so if you can’t see very well, the camera image won’t be as good.
