I have recently carried out a motorway trip and noticed that when going fast downhill the gearbox changes down to hold the speed, i guess. I have had many cars with auto but not had this facility, is this a recent addition to this type of gearbox. I have searched web to see if this is described but so far have not found it mentioned anywhere. There are lots of info on this gearbox but nothing talks about this.
Anybody know of a site where this facility is talked about?

my 8 year old Ford ZF 6speed equipped work car has this aswell. Traditionally an auto can not hold cruise down a hill and you would end up going over your set speed. it makes sense to drop a gear and use the engine braking to slow the car and keep it under your preset speed. There's not really much more to it.

I haven't noticed it but I live in Chicago and hills are in short supply.

I searched the 2016 USDM manual and found this...
