Considering that the Japanese economy just entered recession, they can use all the jobs that they can get, so I don't have a problem with this at all.

Japan has been in recession for the last 30 years....

Theirs is not a question of jobs, north america politics have done a wonderful job of convincing people recession=no jobs. What Japan is experiencing is crashing upwards. Over stimulation.

But headlines work too...

For now... The first plant will develop practices/protocols that then are sent out to other facilities. I fully expect US market CX3's to begin coming from Mexico in a year or two. Better get one now while they're still, er, authentic?

I don't care too much where its being built as long as its being built well. Japan sounds good to me.

Not too sure about the Japanese economy. I do know they have one of the oldest populations in the world so once they get old enough the labor force will shrink and they we have a lot of demand for home nurses.

That might be a possibility but really should we care about where it's manufactured? Regardless of where its assembled it should still follow the same standard for the brand everywhere.

As long as it doesnt turn in to a lemon liek some other imports *cough Nissan

ultimately that's how it should be they should have the same standards but overall vehicles produced in japan have been known to be built better.

so why is that? does the japanese practice black magic. where is the proof?
I think it could partly be the work culture there. There is just more attention to detail and quality bred into the population. I would imagine there is more oversight by high level executives too since they can easily visit a factory in the same country. Those are just my best guesses.
