So I am travelling uphill around 60km/hr with cruise control ON. I am somewhat surprised when going down hill the voice over is saying that I am over the speed limit. Sure enough when I check my speedometer, I am travelling around 70ish. To check if the cruise control is working properly I let the car travel to level ground without pressing the break and see if it will go down to 60km/hr but to my surprise it seems like cruise control was already OFF when I was observing this. I haven't press the break or anything. Could this be a problem with cruise control system on the CX3?

Hmm, I haven't noticed any issues with cruise control, granted I've only used it a couple times. You may have accidentally hit the breaks or the button to turn it off. I would check it a few more times and see if you can replicate it.

Not sure if our cruise control will physically apply brakes when going above set speed (i doubt)

it may hold revs in an attempt to use engine braking to maintain speed when going downhill (but probably not enough to offset the downward momentum) hence the "above speed limit"

Only real upmarket systems apply the brakes when going down hill so the car will overspeed. The brakes will apply if the minus button is held for a few seconds.

I have noticed that the cruise control does not hold the set speed going down hill. Other cars I have owned do it fairly well. I now pull the (auto) gearbox back a gear or three to avoid going too fast. The hidden and mobile speed cameras are a bit savage here.

No voice over, just me being cautious when the speed builds up going down hill by using the auto gearbox. Maybe it is just an excuse to use the auto gearbox that way, as it works so well.

a voiceover? I don't recall anything about the system talking to you warning about speed.

is this a standard feature?
The women in charge of my car gets quite upset as soon as I go 1 mile an hour over the limit and also throws her toys out of the pram anytime I get near a speed camera and I am not talking about the wife....

Oh yes the CX-3 is very vocal if you turn it on in the settings screen and I presume you need the Nav system installed as well.

There is a voice speed waning.

With the Australian maps loaded it will warn of all Speed cameras and point to point cameras, (I think 3 times before you reach it)

If your over the speed and nearing a camera it tells you to slow down.

My son drove the CX3 Canberra to Gold Coast (1300+ kls each way) and return over the last few weeks and he was impressed how well the cruise control held speed.

I agree the ability to lower the speed through anything other than less throttle is not common except on more expensive cars.

Keeping an eye on it on steeper downhill runs is just part of being observant when driving, car can't take it all away :)
