Just to add to this, here is the button off. I released mine with a watch mender screwdriver;



...and once off, you can see the clip;



Mind when you pull her - she flies! This is it located on the stick;



So when putting it back, position it correctly in the shift know and snap it down;

I've just completed the removal of this shifter and wondered, why did you remove yours? was it just to show people how it's done or have you replaced your gearknob/gearboot?
I did it just for you ;-)

Please don’t enquire out of curiosity how the pistons come out or anchorwoman is gonna get really pissed with me!!!

Actually, I did it when I fitted the armrest as the instructions called for it but in fact it didn’t need it. I took the photos at that time and remember thinking that they would come in one day. ;)

How were you able to pull out the bottom half of the release button? i i was able to pry open the top part but it seems something is preventing the whole button to come off. is there something i missing? id gladly appreciate your insight on this. Thank you
