Just inquiring if anyone has thought of or has done it, I've got a set of pirellis that are collecting dust and I'm wondering if I can re-purpose them somehow.

Fyi I'm not super car savvy so bare with me lol

A late response, but...

The factory 18" tires are 215/50/18, so changing to 255/55/18 is a huge difference in both width and height. That's 4 sizes wider and 2.5 inches taller than factory. Your speedometer would be way out of whack, not to mention possible interference and or handling issues. Your fuel economy would suffer too.

I've been running 235/45/18, which was the closest to the factory size I could get in the specific tire I wanted. A 235/45 is almost identical in diameter (0.2 of an inch) to a 215/50 due to the shorter 45 aspect ratio, and it's only slightly wider. A small size change like that is acceptable, but 255/55 is way over what any tire store would recommend.

You can use an online tire size calculator to compare tire sizes...
