I have tried flash drive and iPods and both seem to work ok however how it appears to work is ....

For a flash drive it reads all tracks etc and builds up an jinxed to the music etc using an onboard music database. This can take a while if the flash drive is large. Once its built you can use the menus to find tracks by artist etc etc.

Once you stop car the in memory DB of music is gone and it builds it again next time.

It also seems to prefer the format of directories with Artist/Album and playlists in the root directory. Playlists must be in "m3uext" format.

With an iPd its much faster and the deck has to do less work, however it will hold in memory a full list of data about the music.

In both cases I have never had it forget the last play point.

More info here about tools etc I used.

Look at post 25 on this page

I'll check my version number, but I recall it being 56....something...

My ipod is a generation 1 it's IOS 3.3 so not the newest...! I wonder if that could be one of the problems? It is very slow to use anyway? I have now ordered an ipod nano gen 7 so that might work better. I'll also try a smaller capacity USB, and reduce the amount of albums on it.

I wonder why Mazda decided to let the system forget the compiled database? Even if there was no space on the cars memory, surely they could of saved the file to the flash drive? Let's hope this may be updated in one of the firmware upgrades..?

The infotainment system could of been so much better if it saved the compiled database, my 2012 mini used to do this and it was seamless in finding albums etc. It seemed to know when I had removed the USB and reinserted it, and it then compiled again.

I updated the Infotainment System to version 56.230 and did the "remove the Disclaimer on boot" mod.

Easy to do, more to explore.

Hi Stephan

I have been looking for the 56.230 (ADR) version for Australia and asia but have not seen it posted yet.

Did you get rid of the disclaimer completely or just reduce its display time.

I reduced mine with the code below but would like to remove it completely.

# reduce disclaimer time
chmod 755 /jci/gui/apps/system/js/systemApp.js sed -i 's/this._disclaimerTime.remaining = 3500/this._disclaimerTime.remaining = 100/g' /jci/gui/apps/system/js/systemApp.js

Hey Craig,

The disclaimer is completely gone.
I used the files in the zip file to perform the action.
You need to unzip the files and copy them to a USB-drive
Then bring it to your car and power the car up, the boot sequence will start and after 30 to 40 sec you will get a message that the tweak is installed, press ok, remove the usb key and reboot system by pressing BACK+MUTE+NAV.

Good luck!

Greaseman85,

I replied with a link to another forum but for one or another reason the reply seems to vanish each time.
So you could find the updates on the mazda3Revolution forum, search for "All firmware version"

Good Luck!

oh, you need to subscribe (free)
