Trial and error

Gave this a shot today, looks pretty decent! Smoked out the signal/gray plate below headlights.

Looking at this is making me want to try it on mine even though I am usually against tinting lights lol but the foglight surround definitly could do with a color change. What did you end up using for this?

2016 CX-3 GT AWD - Crystal White Pearl Mica.

I was in the same boat with trying it, but I found a kit on amazon that came with the tools to try it out, I think I paid $12/$13 shipped.
I went with a gray film, not black, I knew I didn’t want it too dark where it appeared cheap or holes of missing parts. All four corners took me about 1.5 hours and cost about $32 for everything to include a heat gun.

Sorry, I used the film, razor blade and squeegee, windex, masking tape, heat-gun, and some plastic tools for pulling/prying interior panels to tuck the edges and clean it all up with out scratching any surfaces.
All in all, I like it and turned out as advertised!
