Disc brake

Hi everybody!

Today I discovered something strange looking in my disc brake. Front left to be more precise. Only driven the car 1400km (870 miles).

It looks like the left disc brake have been torn on the edges of the disc and only like 1/3 of the disc brake. Looks like the disc "dropps down" at the edges...Hard to explain, but if you look at the images then you probably understand what I mean.

I will probably call my mazda dealer tommorrow about this. Doesnt look right, especially when the front right dosent look like that. Theres one pictures showing the right disc brake for comparison.

Anyone got an ide of what this can be?

I'm not understanding what the issue is. Its really hard to see what the issue is especially when the wheel is on. Is it making noise or anything else unusual than just looks weird. And if you can point out the actual area of interest is by highlighting it, it may help clarifying this.

Here are 2 more pictures. I marked with red color the actual problem, what i mean with the brake disc "dropps down" And if you compare it to the other picture wich is front right brake disc you can clearly see that the edges are smooth all the way with no edge that "dropps dows"

Its difficult to take some good pictures but hopefully the problem is more visible now.

At last, a brake problem. All my years in testing and development of brakes have come to fruition!

Don't worry Peter, that is where the disc manufacturer has removed some material to reduce weight and balance the disc. The black coating visible there and just behind the wheel is a chemical dip that turns the exposed parts black instead of unsightly rust.

I thought this question would attract you.
Good to hear that! I thought that there might/should be some kind of an answer to that.
And for correcting one thing that i wrote earlier, the front right brake disc have that same kind of edge. When i first time looked, it was hidden behind the brakepads area...
