Speed 3 imminent

Mazda is quietly prepping a new Speed 3, which logically leads me to believe that we're going to see a hot CX3... well ok not leads me to believe, but instils me with a great desire to believe in the potentially delusional for the sake of it...

New Mazdaspeed 3 Could Zoom Zoom to Life as a Concept this Fall

I can see how this would make you more excited about the prospect of a hot CX3. Even if that is coming we would still have to wait a very long time. I am still a supporter though, and I am happy that Mazda is getting nice a speedy again.

...the next generation Mazdaspeed 3 will make its debut appearance in concept form at this fall’s Frankfurt auto show, suggesting that it could arrive as a production model for 2016 or 2017.

Given the burgeoning appetite for small sporty crossovers, I wouldn’t be surprised if a Mazdaspeed CX-3 comes around either.
The thing is, we will have to wait until at least after the Mazdaspeed 3 comes out before there would be a Mazdaspeed CX-3. That means at least a year and a half, maybe more. I hope that Mazda puts some investment into more performance models though. i t would do wonders for them. People would love it.

You have to figure that Mazda will be putting some bigger engines in all their vehicles. That is really the biggest thing missing from their line up right now. Mazdaspeed 3 today, the whole rest of the line up tomorrow (well, not quite tomorrow).

A MazdaSpeed CX-3 would be great but i'm just not sure how worthy of an idea it is. Seems like they'll be better off just sticking to the Mazdaspeed 3 as it will serve very similar needs. Thinning themselves out with 2 similar models could prove to be a bad idea.

Indeed. I'm thinking more as my next, next. IF we end up with the CX-3 and IF we are totally head over heels with it by the time a Speed CX-3 comes around I could see me being seduced a second time...

Mazda may also choose to continue rolling out performance models, but the CX3 may not be a t the top of the list for them. A Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata would likely do quite well. It would be a bit more expensive, but would make people feel more like they are driving a pseudo-Porsche.

I'm more in favor of a Mazdaspeed MX-5 than I am of a MS CX-3.

The way I see it, their efforts, time and money will be better invested going that spread out... initially.
Maybe once they've covered all the important models, then move on to the CX-3.

The only consistent Speed derivative was the Mazda 3 (& Protoge before that).
The MX5 & 6 do not have consistent Speed derivatives & were more one offs.
& No Speed CX5 as of yet.

So Unless Mazda has totally change their strategy, I highly doubt we would see MS CX3.

Sorry to say, you are more than likely correct.
The CX-3 is setting up to be the sports car of suvs' (much more than cx5) so maybe there is slim chance way down the road.
