New CX3 Owner

Hi - I'm Mary from Golden Colorado USA. I just bought a 2017 CX3, AWD, Touring, Premium package, Meteor Gray Mica. Did a lot of research and narrowed my search down to the CX3, Honda HRV and Subaru Crosstrek. Before test driving, I had the Crosstrek as my #1 pick. *After* test driving, the CX3 was far and away the top choice. Love it, with a few minor complaints that I knew about before hand - lack of storage in cockpit, small interior overall (but it is a compact car afterall). My prior cars were certified pre-owned (Prius, Audi A4), so this is the first new car I've had in quite a while, and I am amazed at the standard features that come with this car.

Welcome to the forum and I do hope your new car fully justifies your choice. Being aware of - and making an allowance for - a few minor complaints or nuisances prior to making the final decision to purchase is the best way. I'd had other Japanese cars but the CX-3 has been my first Mazda and overall I'm fully satisfied with my decision to purchase it.

Welcome to the forum. Interesting how you started up front stating "few minor complaints that I knew about before hand - lack of storage in cockpit, small interior overall (but it is a compact car after all)." I think some of us don't like to say that there are faults for fear that others will say "WELL you knew before buying". Anyway, the lack of storage is right on. Small interior could have been worked out a bit better especially in the "boot" area (call it back storage if that makes more sense).

You only have the right of way if the other driver gives it to you

I'm sticking with all weather tires for now. The AWD will be a relief to have. Have driven a FWD for 8 years and had some very white-knuckle drives up and down the foothills where I live!

I'm up in Broomfield, and I made it through last winter just fine on the stock tires.

It will be interesting to see how my commute is this winter. I've driven a Prius for 8 years - I drive from Golden to I-25 and Dry Creek, and I've had too many terrifying drives up the long hill on north C-470 to 6th Ave as well as a couple of short steep hills in town. I'll miss the 50+ MPG, but so far I'm getting just over 30 and having AWD when we eventually get snow will be a big relief.

I found the stock tires performed very well in freezing rain, slush and snow.
Then at about -10C or 14F, we have frozen rubber.
This year is the first, in a long time, that I bought winter tires.
I still run all season on my Monte Carlo and it performs reasonably well.
Perhaps the low profile on the 18" is a contributing factor.

Let me know your findings

I got a 2016 CX3. The dealer didn't have any 2017's. Whats all different from 2016 to 2017? You got the sticker?
