New steeringwheel model 2017/18

Hello,

In Belgium have the new cx3 (model 2017/18) a new steering wheel.
My question is it possible to mount this new steeringwheel?
And have some body done this.

My advice would be, don’t. Its the most uncomfortable wheel I’ve owned on a car for years. I read some press release guff that said they had modelled it to the shape of the hand, well I can’t imagine who’s hand. They have created a kind of reverse ridge that faces out and it is very uncomfortable. Furthermore, the buttons extend out towards the rim of the wheel as part of the styling but they are now positioned under the base of the thumb (the muscly bit on the palm of your hand). The last wheel was a bit too thin in my opinion but this new one is a disaster in terms of comfort.

I don't know if it fits but here are some thoughts...

There are a few stumbling blocks that would keep it from working.

If the new wheel communicates differently than the old, this is a non-starter. It really depends; some wheels are just a collection of switches that connect to a control module (or three). Some wheels ARE a control module and actually connect to the CAN bus.

If the electrical connectors have changed, you'll have to find a way to adapt them. The easiest way is going to be to get the wiring diagram for the wheel wiring harness and then depin/swap the connectors between the wheels.

If somebody wants to send me the newer wheel, I'm happy to attempt the swap and then post a write-up on how to do it.

They are frighteningly expensive.
