SD Navigation Card for 2017 Cx-3

Just traded in my 2017 CX-3 for a CX-5 (wife, dogs, bike, needed more room). The CX-5 came with the Nav SD Chip, but I had to buy one for the CX-3...no, I am not a good negotiator apparently.

I would hate for this chip to go to waste....I heard two conflicting stories: 1) after 62 miles, the chip becomes "assigned" to the VIN and 2) it will still work on any 2017 CX-3.

Question for the forum - would anyone be interested in buying this at a steep discount (Paid $189 - will take $79 for it) or does anyone have official answer on the transportability of the Nav Chip?

THX!

I don't believe it will work on any other Mazda.

After first installation of a new SD card, once the vehicle has run 100km (calculated through GPS information), the card is VIN locked to that vehicle.

If a new SD card is removed from the first vehicle (A) before it has travelled 100km, and then installed on another vehicle (B), the card is immediately VIN locked to vehicle (B).

If a VIN locked card is transferred to another vehicle, the sat. nav. will not operate and "Invalid SD Card" will be displayed on the centre screen.

I don't know if you are still on the site, but.....did you buy the card 'over the counter' and install it yourself? I've had a dealer email me a 500 price for the sd card. I'm thinking if these cards are available nationally I could shop around and install it myself.

Thanks

People have had good luck with SD cards purchased on eBay. Makes sure you get a NEW card as used one will NOT work. There is a small slot on the bottom of the center console where the card goes. Insert carefully and that is all there is to it. Car finds it and NAV works. Good luck.

Got it thanks! Quite a difference in price from the $500 dealer asking price.
