Question Wheel and Tire Upgrade - 225/55R17

Hi All,

I have the 2016 CX-3 Sport and I want to install the brand new Falken WILDPEAK A/T TRAIL tires.

OE tire size is 215/60R16 (OD = 26.1"). Closest tire size offered by Falken would be the 225/55R17 (OD = 26.8"), so I'll have to get new wheels as well.

Has anyone tried this swap yet? I think it should work, just want to make sure my tires wouldn't rub before I buy new wheels and tires.

Thanks much!

I have had that size (225/55R17) on my 2017 for a couple of years and have no problems at all.

Awesome, thanks so much Jroper.

Which wheels and tires did you go with? Any noticeable drop in MPG?

Max, those tires look really aggressive, how much louder are they compared to stock tires?

Not bad at all. Maybe slightly louder but the ride is smooth. I feel much more planted to the ground. Thinking I'll sacrifice a couple mpg (probably going from 30 to 28), but the tires are severe snow rated so going to be worth the compromise when winter comes along.

I'll be getting the 225/55R18 on stock wheels when the time comes. At least two people are running 225/55R18s, I've seen Pirellis and Yoko Geolandars.
