GDI Engine

I have a 2016 CX-3, does the engine on that exhibit carbon build up on the intake valves from being a GDI engine. Should I be cleaning the intakes with CRC GDI Cleaner or something? Anybody on here who knows about GDI in general and what, if anything, Mazda has done to resolve the issues that so many others have.

I'm at 40K, didn't even bother to look what engine design, which I now believe is GDI, how much carbon is on those valves do you think?

As far as whether you "need" to do it, it's impossible to say. People have reported intake valve build-up in fewer than 20k miles so it's possible.

I don't know how well and of the off-the-shelf cleaners actually work. I've been looking for a reason to buy a borescope so maybe I'll try them.

The proper way is to use a media blaster. Corksport make an adapter for a shopvac to make it easier but it's still a pretty involved process.
