Active Driving Display cover?

I'm noticing (now that we're having some sunny days here in Chicago) that the glare off the hood and/or dash makes it tough to read the translucent ADD.

Has anybody put something black on the back (really front) of the ADD to block out light coming through?

Alternately: anybody have the part number for the pop-up piece? If it's not hugely expensive, I might buy one and try to design a part for 3D printing.

Edit: Holy crap! That lens is almost $250!!!

Jeeze.. for that price we might as well buy a cheap lense they sell to 'reflect the smartphone screen as a hud' and mount it there if it ever gets broken. Id assume it maybe comes with the little motor assembly too?

Yah, it must be the entire assembly for that price.

I'm going to cover it in tape and then carefully trim the tape. Hopefully, I can peel it off as a single piece and start from there.

How about a small piece of vinyl car wrap? Might be easier to fine-trim with a razor blade.

I noticed this when I was driving early this morning with terrible sun glare. The light was shining on the tiny lcd panel which made it hard to see the hud numbers. Which makes me wonder how much covering the reflective backing is going to do if the issue is around it and caused by light hitting the screen itself but hopefully its adequate enough to block most of the light coming to the screen.

Ive always wondered how easy is it to trim vinyl wrap? Ive always had the worst luck fine cutting things (mainly cheap ebay vinyl) with a blade yet so many wrapping videos make it look stupidly simple like its slicing through whipped cream.

Edit: It was tint, not wrap that I failed horribly at blade cutting lol. Yet the vinyl always felt thicker and I would assume more difficult to cut.
