05/2018 built CX-3 is a 2018 or 2019 model?

Would someone know if a CX-3 bought now (12/2018 in Europe - Belgium) and built in 05/2018 is a 2018 model or a 2019 model?

Thank you in advance for your information and advices.

I am 99% sure that it might be a 2019 by this point. Although it might very well vary on manufacturer date in certain countries but there should be explicit labeling on the seller whether its 2018 or 2019. Biggest giveaway is also the interior center console change which started in 2019 (rip e-brake lever). I would imagine you could also do a vin search as well and it would show what model/year the car is amongst other things.

Cars also are manufacturered months before the actual release date so they would have something to sell and I believe the 2019 came out in the spring based on a quick search in the states. I have not followed it as I am content with my 2016 but it seems like a good time frame. This is also dependent on the country being a first adopter/primary market since they usually get first dibs on the region mazda wants to sell first to.

Thanks Sly. I got the VIN number but could not find a website or app to read it!?

How would you read it? Is it specific to each brand or it’s an universel system?

ps: is the handbrake always manual on the 2018 and electric on the 2019

I used this once or twice to look up cars by vin to see if they had any accidents or recalls. https://www.vehiclehistory.com/
On the main result page it should say year make and model attached to the vin. Usually carfax/accident history pages do so but some require money for the report which is a sham considering they arent even that accurate but thats another story for another time lol.

On the "original models" the center console area is very cramped, armrest could be removed and was a separate attachment, it overhangs over the cup holders and manual handbrake lever. The newer ones have the armrest blended in better not restricting as much as before and have a somewhat more ergomic flow mainly because they removed the handbrake lever and made it a stupid button which I cant stand but thats just my opinion haha.

I'm pretty sure that by European standards that would be a 2018 model.

Garage
Moondiver, 2019 is the first year with the electric hand brake.

Can I ask what the tenth position of your VIN is?
