Snow Tires

Hello everyone! So, I'm having some trouble figuring out which snow tires to get for my 2016 CX-3 Touring. I had Blizzaks on my last car and loved them but when I went to look up those tires again, it said that they're not made for the CX-3. As long as they're 16" I should be fine, right? If not, what else should I look for?

Call Tire Rack. Consider a -1 configuration (15") for reduced cost, better traction and more likely, a wider selection. See if they have a set of steel wheels to fit and buy the tires pre-mounted and balanced on these cheap wheels. This will save wear and tear on your OE wheels and tires plus the cost (~$50?) of the changeover as you will be able to do the changeovers yourself.

Really smart to go with dedicated winters. I wouldn't be too worried about the brand. Any of them will be a revelation compared to A/S.

Hey Hillco,

Depends on your location

If you get a chance go to tools /User CP and set your location.
Not a bad idea to put model in your signature - makes it easier for someone to help if you have a question.

Here in BC, Canada the snow tires with the mountain and snowflake insignia are recommended. They are a dedicated snow tire and the tire manufacturer is almost irrelevent. Just make sure they are not too wide as this moots the tire traction. Weight per square inch. That's very important.

Hillco-I just helped my daughter buy a new car last week and guess what? She chose a 2017 CX-3 AWD Touring. The '17 Tourings come with 18" wheels. So I get online with TR and they recommend 16" Blizzaks in 215/60/16 on steel wheels. The wheels are $58 ea and tires $111 ea for a total of $677USD before shipping and sales tax if you're unfortunate enough to live in the same state as their distribution center. Don't know why these wouldn't fit your car? There were other brands available for a few bucks less if you're a price shopper. You can ship to your home if you don't mind DIY or send to one of their installers.

I put Toyo G3 Ice on my wifes GT , Found some on a buy an sell group on FB , 215/65/16 , rims as well , all for $470 ! Includes the Mazda wheel cover , Tires get good reviews and with AWD Im hoping she'll be good this winter . And it will save the nice 18" alloys for the summer .

Almost any new snow tire is going to be better every all-season tire.

That said, all tires harden as they age and snow tires that are several years old won't necessarily be better than a brand new all-season tire. I found this out the fun way when I mounted the snow tires from my previous Infiniti to my CX-3 and actually had worse grip than the new OEM tires.

That said, Tire Rack has the General Altimax Arctic and Altimax Arctic 12 in 215/60R16 both on clearance for $80-ish each with an extra $50MIR when you buy a set of four.

Yup, these are the Blizzaks that I've ordered from Costco for my CX-3. Not sure why these weren't coming up for the OP?
