Manual transmission - 1st gear issue

Hi everyone, i am really hoping someone has heard of this before!

I have had my cx 3 since August last year.
After about a month of having it I was sitting in my usual early morning traffic, waiting in neutral for the light to change (iStop engaged). Put my clutch and and tried to put my car into first gear... Physically could not get my car into gear. It would not go into gear, no matter how many times i tried. Eventually I turned my car off and turned it on again, and i could put it into gear and carry on.

This then happened again about two weeks later, and then more and more frequently. It now happens almost every day, particularly when i have been driving for a while. It does not happen every time that i am in neutral, more like once every trip. m
I have learnt that when it wont go into 1st gear, i can get it into 2nd gear and then it will go into 1st.

I have taken my car to two different dealerships - the first dealership seemed to completely not believe me and told me there was nothing wrong with my car.
The second dealership has not been able to identify the issue but they have said they will initiate the warranty process to have a new gear box put in.

My questions are-
1 - has anyone else had this same issue with their cx 3?
2 - does anyone know what is possibly the cause of issue?

It drives me insane when it happens

Hi , I never happened about this problem . I think it is a pressure plate problem. If this is the problem do not accept for changing this part only tell them to change the complete kit including the clutch and the thrust bearing .
SlyCoopers and Jroper like this.

Thanks Ryan. I am taking it to the dealership again on Friday and I will ask them to consider this as a problem.

I agree with Ryan ... although in my day we called it a throwout bearing, or release bearing. The thrust bearing is a crankshaft bearing and actually inside the engine. SOP used to be, "While you're in there, replace the clutch and throwout bearing".

Say it ain't so, the manual gearbox/stick shift is an endangered species

P.S. Kudos for getting a second opinion.
