Faint ,short cough when starting to drive

Just bought a CX3 with 2.0L petrol, 156HP, 6 gear AT. The car did ~500km ti'll now (less than a week on the road).

Last night I took it for a drive, and I noticed that when I am starting up to drive from a full stop, there's a faint cough. Really faint, and I can't describe it any other way than a cough.

At first I suspect it had to do with the gear, so I changed to "M" mode and I slowly shifted up manually, one by one. All the gears shifted smoothly up and down, but after few moments I could hear the cough.

It's similar sound to the one that I hear when I turn on the air-con. It also resembles the sound that the breaks make sometime when I press them softly at low speed. Anyway, I can't put my finger on it, and my wife can't hear it.

Did anyone experience similar issue?

Does your AC still work reliably? Mine car was sounding like this constantly when I had the AC running and it turned out to be an issue with the AC unit

A/C off, same phenomenon ... a stagger, stumble, or "roughness".

AT, with 91 octane, Good Gulf gasoline (long, long ago worked for Mene Grande, Gulf de Venezuela :-) Some say it doesn't, but I assume it's 10% corn-lobby ethanol ... a blight on us grits lovers!

156 BHP, where are you located?

2017 CX-3 GT, AWD, i-ActiveSense, Ceramic Metallic, Black ... His: Zoom, Zoom!
2016 HR-V EX-L, AWD, Milano Red, Black ... Hers: Putt, Putt.

Hmm... Yeah mine is a 2016 touring, AT, I use 87 octane which is what is recommended for the car, 146 bhp (you have 156 in the states??) and i'm located in Vancouver Canada.

Do you have any roof racks? I know mine definitely make noise, changing in pitch, depending on the speed. If you think its an actual mechanical thing I'd probably bring it in and have it looked at.

Israel. For for some reason CX3 here comes with 156, while same engine (2.0L) Mazda 3 comes with 165, and I've checked and it's not a type-o.

Don't have roof racks, and the noise seems to origin from the engine area.

Update: The air-con causes the noise. Every 20 seconds or so, I get this cough. The noise is clear when the car stands still with A/C on, and it somehow gets worse in slow drive.

Did anyone else notice it on their CX3?

Yes I've noticed the same thing with my A/C. I guess that's normal......for a Mazda.
