OEM DVD player

Can I please get confirmations from members if you have the option or as a standard item for a DVD player in your CX-3? I've found this is in Japan available for sale and I'm wondering if this is a Japan only option

It's definitely an option but whether it gets fitted is down to the local importing company. Maxda GB do not offer it. If you could get the DVD ahead unit it is simple to fit.

Currently CX5 SportNav 2.2 diesel automatic and AWD.
Formerly CX3 SportNav 1.5 diesel automatic and AWD.

Is Japan in the same region code as Australia? If not, might be something to be aware of if there's any plans for DVD-Video playback at some point. Not sure if there's any special firmware changes needed to enable a DVD-ROM drive. Is the intention to use it to load a DVD full of mp3 files?

Yeah I decided not to buy it as the firmware here would not allow me to access it unless a custom firmware was installed.

Yahoo auctions Japan is full of tv bus systems that allow you to view free to air tv via the screen once selecting the dvd channel

That would be a pretty slick setup if it was all plug-and-play.
