No CD?

I see the next update to the Mazda3 will be minus the CD player. Guess that will flow onto the CX-3. I've only used my CD player a few times and that was mainly to test that it worked. I use the USB mainly with an occasional (very) use of an iPhone.

That's good, perhaps they should make it optional though for the few people that still play CDs. I'd rather have that area be a storage pocket.

I'm with greaseman85... CD's are sooooo last century. I can't remember the last time I even used a music CD.

I haven't used a CD since maybe 2007. I've noticed that many 15's and 16's no longer have them. The CX3 being new, I was disappointed to see they bothered to put one in.

It's a CD player? I've been trying to force 45s in mine since I got it. Now if I can just find out where 8 tracks go, I'll have room for a third person in the car.

I have not transferred all of my (extensive) CD collection to my computer, much less what would be quite a few thumb drives. Once in a while, I'll get a hankering for a certain album which has not been ripped and find it convenient to have a player available. That being said, I mainly use a thumb drive, my phone (Tidal, Pandora) or *gasp!* even the radio (I really like HD radio and having sometimes 3 options on some stations) to listen to music and/or news (SiriusXM nope - let that subscription run out...)

So many will be asking what's these 45's and 8 tracks you're referring too. If you'd also included cassettes that would have been over the top. Lol...

I read audiobooks that come on CD. I wouldn't buy a car without a CD player.
But for those of you that have never used it; the CX3 CD player is poorly designed, it is buried and oddly angled.

Just to follow up a bit more on the demise of the CD player in cars I searched the net. Below is a collection of some people's complaints. I'd guess others on this forum would probably associate with some of them.

"I don't want to see In Car CD Players being phased out in new cars even though it has already happened with some new cars this will cause customer and buyer backlash".

"CD Players in the car are useful for music for longer trips in the car or when we want to listen to music and don't want to listen to the radio".

"It's a rip off by the car manufacturers to save the cost of a CD player, they already seem to have phased out the* CD stacker! They expect* the customer to supply their own music via an iPhone or USB stick which probably translates to a saving of* between $50 -$75 in the factory costs of the car".

"I want my CD player to listen to MY music. I have many CD's and enjoy them very much. This removal of the CD player has to be one of the dumbest things the auto industry has come up with".

"The issue that I have is that streaming services do not have the audio quality that a CD offers. I would happily pay for a DC player option though. I do like techy bits and the apps are a great idea".

"It is disappointing to learn that cars no longer/will no longer have CD players. I use my CD to listen to Talking Books and very rarely for music".

From the above, I think most would agreed that the loss of the CD won't cause that much of a problem for most of us.

You know what I use the CD player for? A phone holder.

This one in fact: https://www.amazon.com/Koomus-Pro-CD...t+phone+holder

It actually works! haha
