Windshield Replacement

Has anyone had to replace a windshield? The windshield/parts have been back ordered for 45 days and there is no estimate of the delivery.

Had ours replaced in 2016 in Florida on a long road trip. Took a major rock hit in Texas! Only took Safelite a couple of days to get the windshield at that time...

I'm just in the process at the moment of having a screen replaced, started with a small stone chip and within 2 hours turned into a 7 inch long crack. The screen was ordered yesterday, it arrives at Autoglass next Tuesday and it is booked in for next Wednesday to be fitted and camera calibration

That's interesting. I'm trying to use Safelite as well and they are the ones with the backorder.

When you say screen I'm assuming you mean windshield since you mention the camera calibration. I guess I will see if there is an Autoglass location near us.

Yes I mean windshield
It's been ordered direct from Mazda because all the third party/aftermarket suppliers can't supply one

I was told that camera calibration is not needed because the camera doesn't actually attach to the windshield.

Mazda main agent has confirmed they have to be calibrated, so whether its to check they haven't been moved whilst removing the windshield or they are attached to the windscreen and have to be refitted from windshield to new windshield I will see next week.

I'm trying another glass replacement company here in the Northeast, JN Phillips Autoglass. JN Phillips indicated they could have a windshield in no more than 2 weeks from today so we tentatively set an appointment. I'm not encouraged though, not until they have one in stock.

Both companies, JN Phillips and Safelite as well as my insurance company stated that the recalibration of the camera is a required element of the replacement.
