MotorTrend US Review

Looks like MotorTrend has the first US review that I've seen:
2016 Mazda CX-3 First Drive - Motor Trend

One thing I noticed in this is that they have confirmed that the engine is a "2.0-liter I-4 making 146 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque". So it sounds like we're getting the slightly detuned engine here too. Also of note "Mazda expects front-drive CX-3s to best the HR-V in fuel economy, so expect to see the cute-ute to net as much as 29/36 mpg city/highway for front-drive models."

It also mentions that it won't be going on sale until the fall. No specific date is mentioned. Also "projected starting price of around $20,000 and topping out near $30,000".

I'm going grumble a little here. Avert you eyes if you don not want to read it.

146 is low output for a 2 liter. Even my lowly Focus 2 liter makes 160 and it's only average for that size. Skyactive...bah.

Is it possible Mazda is dumbing down the motor so it won't out run more expensive models on top it in the lineup?

Space problems not allowing proper intake or exhaust? Anybody got an idea?

I've been reading that they couldn't fit the full size 4-2-1 Skyactiv exhaust system out of the 3 and CX-5. I imagine they had to reduce the compression and output of the engine to compensate.

Also I would think that US emissions regs just reduced the original guestimate of 150 Hp by 4.
