Aussie hood deflector q

Going to install that deflector later this week but I got a question (aussie members might have more knowledge on the deflector although a few members in my part of the world have the deflector on their rides).

There are little pieces of protective tape that they say in the instructions to apply to the painted surface before installing the deflector. My car has PPF film in the front end and I am wondering if you still need to apply those tape pieces to the PPF film before installing the deflector?

What are your thoughts?

In my experience the PPF film should suffice ... but I'd also add the supplied tape, assuming the extra thickness of both isn't a problem ... Protection (EBTG).

We fitted a similar clear Aussie deflector to our 2003 CR-V. After 8 or so years, 80K miles, car washes, etc. the metal mounts were a bit misshapen and the protective tape was wearing away. I reshaped the mounts and used small bits of clear, thick packing tape to remount it.

All went well for several more years and 20K miles ... looked good when we sold it. (College Hills Honda imported several Australian CR-V accessories ... bulk quantities, good prices.)

Deflector is installed, and I did use those protective tape pieces and stuck them on the PPF film.

A few days ago after the deflector was installed the wife drove the car around on regular roads and highway and all seemed well, I however was busy so I didn't get to put the deflector through my testing.

I was able to get to it today......................without incriminating myself the deflector and my installation of it passed my rigorous testing on the highway at speed (a certain country that starts with the 7th letter of the alphabet).

Deflector was stable and held up well to the test..................I'm happy, Aussie deflector looks great on the CX-3 and installs beautiful.
